Mosquitos??!!!

How we're the Mosquitos in San Juan?

I'm pregnant and still planning on cruising in Oct. One of our ports is San Juan

I'm terrified of the Zika Virus and plan on bathing hourly in insect repellent with DEETS and Avons SOS

A lot will depend on what you do on your shore excursions.  We have not noticed any while in Old Town but if you go to the rain forest you are more than likely to encounter some.  I usually carry insect repellent with me.  It is lighter than the spray and very easy use. Here is a picture of what I take:

They were pretty friendly when I was there last year....Surprised   Actually... My cruise last June was the Eastern carribean... San Juan was on the itinerary.. I didn't see any misquitos or really any nasty bugs on any of the Islands and I didn't where any repellent..

Cutter is the only mosquito repellent that works for me.  It was recommended by a friend that said it was the only one that worked for her as well.

How do you apply repellent to an unborn????Surprised   I must be missing something.....

No,no,no.... she wants to keep the baby safe by not getting anything that might be transmitted. Of course, you know that and are just being "funny".

We were only in the old town last spring and didn't notice any mosquitos.

Ya think? Happy

We were in SJ at the beginning of the month. Stayed in the Old Town area and I didn't notice any. That's not to say there weren't any, but none of the 12 in our group was bitten or mentioned mosquitos. Still - take the necessary precautions and use whatever is medically safe for you and the baby.

Welcome to the forum and have a wonderful cruise.

We call them "skeeters" and out of all our cruises, we haven't swatted one yet.  Of course we do not take any excursions dealing with water
