<Missing Luggage

Have you ever gone on a cruise when your luggage either did not make it to the ship for your cruise or was not sent to your stateroom on embarkation day?

Although I have never had luggage lost taking a cruise, my brother-in-law did. The airline didn't get his luggage to a Princess cruise last year. It was due to an earthquake and his cruise started one day later. He did not get his luggage until the last day of his cruise. Now we all pack a change of clothes in our carry-on bag.

Has never happened to me on board. But the airline lost our luggage once when we were coming back from an Hawaiian trip. The person in Seattle was incredible. They put us up in a Hotel, because the flight to Edmonton was cancelled and when they found our luggage she delivered it personally to our hotel.

On a long cruise to Panama, one lady had lost all her luggage. " she flew into Florida just 3 hours before departure" She complained the entire cruise to anyone who would listen about the terrible airline, the fact that Princess won't help look for her luggage, about the voucher she got, how terrible the cruise was. " It was great -by the way..."

Never did find out what happened to her stuff.

Note to self--Fly in a day early so you can find your luggage,,,Wink

Hi Johngold, I guess a trauma at the beginning of a cruise spoils the whole cruise for someone. You know though, my brother-in-law never once complained to others about his lost luggage. He just went on to have a good cruise. It is a good idea to fly into a port the day before your cruis3e. We did that for our long cruise last year. I
The flight was not a problem but we had time to relax and do sightseeing and were well rested when we boarded the ship.

We were on a 28 day Tahiti cruise. Where we did not lose our luggage a young family did. This poor young couple had two young children. The airlines lost all of their luggage. They had nothing when they boarded the vessel. Princes stepped up to the plate and provided them with transportation to the Walmart in our first port of call. The young family did not let it slow them down. Great attitude I was impressed. Not sure I could have been as upbeat.

I have had it where the friend I was traveling with did not get his luggage until after dinner the first night of the cruise. I tend to carry my luggage on and off myself so no issues. I have witnesses the porters tossing luggage up and down the stairs, so I do not check bags at the port.

The risk of lost luggage is one reason that we cross-pack and bring at least a change of clothes and underwear in our carry-on. We figure the chances of losing ALL of our luggage is less than losing one piece.
