Miami Port..... hotel and shuttle to port

I'm now doing my under 90 day dance so time to start planning the air, hotel and transfers.  Some of you were of great help with information for my last cruise so now my question is....

Where is good to stay in Miami for a night before a cruise,  Where is good to eat near by and any good local hotel to port shuttles or services ?

Thanks in advance for sharing your port tips.

Most of the downtown hotels don't offer shuttle service, but a taxi is $12-15 for up to 4, to the best of my recollection.

You can check in for the cruise at the Miami Airport.  We did this and got Carnival transfers.  We were boarded right after FTTF.  We stayed at the Miami International Airport Hotel, which is inside the airport.  The hotel is very dated, but clean and comfy.  It was very convenient.  We could go down, grab coffee/breakfast, go to Carnival check in area at one of the baggage areas, board the shuttle, and wait about 10 minutes at port to board the ship.  You could also choose a hotel near the airport with free shuttle to/from and follow the same check in procedure if you wanted.  You can also do Carnival check in at airport if you wish and grab a taxi, but you don't get priority boarding without the transfers.

Enjoy!!!

From past experience we have found it better to stay in Fort Lauderdale or Mirimar and stay at a hotel that offers a shuttle at a reasonable price.  Hotels are pricey in Miami, for decent ones and even those do not offer shuttle service.  Those that do, you do not want to stay at.  Voice of experience here!  LOL

Since we live in FL we just drive down so I am sorry that I can't help you with suggestions.

We've stayed at the La Quinta Airport East and Comfort Suites and both have airport shuttle to the hotel, nice breakfast and shuttle to the port included in the price.

When we sail from Miami we usually stay at the Best Western Atlantic Beach Resort. Miami Beach.  They have a shuttle that you may purchase a spot, sorry I can't recall the price.  Being from CO we like to get as much beach time as possible when we cruise and this has easy beach access,
