Meeting people before you board??

We will be taking our children on their 1st 7 day cruise and I'm concerned they won't make friends until the last few days.  Does anyone know of a forum where you can meet (on line) others that will cruising on the same ship as you?

We are cruising on October 10th - Norwegian Getaway.  Any suggestions.  Thank you!  Happy

You've already found it! You can connect with other cruisers right here on cruiseline.com and via our Ship Mate app and I see you've already joined the roll call for your cruise.

Kids usually make friends in the clubs fairly quickly, it seems, so I wouldn't worry too much.

Enjoy your cruise!

Take advantage of the kids camps.

Encourage them right from the start to get involved with the on board activities and the children's camp.  Remind them that all the other kids are in the same situation.  If they still seem to be having difficulty, try to get friendly with some parents who have children about the ages of your kids.  Maybe you the parents can break the ice by getting the kids to play ping pong, min golf, arts and crafts or whatever activities are available.  Also a word to the camp counselors might help.  Sometimes, kids just need a nudge.

Join your cruise's roll call and check out others who are already joined.  Don't be surprised if you do not get a response straight away though.  Not everyone checks back there regularly.

The Kids Camp (or whatever the ship calls it), is probably your best option for getting them in touch with other same-age kids who are on board. However, Oct 10th is not a school vacation time (that I know of), so you may not find a whole lot of other kids on the cruise to begin with.

Happy sails!

If the kids are in the kids camp,  they will make friends fast,   kids make friends easier and faster then adults.

Thank you everyone for your feedback!  My 7 year old makes friends quickly, my older child is the one that takes time.  I have done the ice breakers for her and will do again if needed.  I will join the roll call.  I'm looking forward to getting some feedback about a few our ports and ship.
