Luggage Tags - When Do you Put Them On?

I work the Polls and one thing for sure is you never know who will walk through those doors... or what.

I usually put them on after I pack and never had an issue with the airlines or flights. I invested in 4 plastic holders as well. But after all these comments, I may wait until we get to the hotel the night before!

I put the plastic tag holders on at the hotel. Never on a flight as the airlines may tear them off as they can confuse the airline baggage handlers as to where the bag is going.

We always put ours on the morning of the cruise, while at the hotel. I cover them in clear packing tape and punch a hole in each end of them. I then use small zip ties to attach them to the luggage right before we board the shuttle to the pier.

I left them on the bags for the flight home last time. Half of the tags had been ripped off the bags (using the plastic holders attached with steel cable).

I put them on when we close up the luggage at home. Also put them on the hand carries and have two spares in the hand carries.

Since I found the luggage tag holders, the ones with the little cables for attaching them, we haven’t lost one yet. Also, we use those newer hard sided Samsonite suitcases, which stand up so well to abuse I can’t believe it.

I do the same. I put it on the carry on because you never know.. When you are waiting for your room and leave something

I also invested in a hard sided suitcases, but not samsonite... I never had an issue with anything.

Lol That was me that asked the ? I followed your link and bought those tags but was amazed at the flack you got ...how the plastic tag got removed last flight could probably be attributed to getting stuck in a roller belt. I'll wait till headed for port from now on.

Those tags have been on all my cruises this year and well worth it!

When flying we follow the cruise line advice to attach the tags after the flights. We have never lost a luggage tag as we use those plastic holders now that are very sturdy.
