Loyalty programs and proper designation

So there have been a few times (mostly when it is a carnival cruise) people have gotten fussy because the color of their card was not correct. When I say fussy, I mean shocked and upset. They look to me to fix it, but if its not in the computer, there is nothing I can do.

Is a color that important for the enjoyment of your cruise? I know it is linked to your status and points for VIFP so I can understand making sure the points count, but that is something that the person never set up before hand, or set up incorrectly hence the issue. None the less, it can be fixed at any point.....

Or do they just not want to be a "lowly" blue card?

Some people, it seems, absolutely have to have that double chromium kryptonium card so everyone can see how wonderful they are. The rest of us couldn't really care less.

If you do get the wrong color card, I'm sure that customer service on board can re-issue the correct one.

I am still a lowly Gold with Carnival. I do want the correct color card just so I know my points are being counted, but I think the blue cards are much prettier. Too bad you only get those for one cruise.

If I were given the incorrect color card, I would go to Guest Services and see what was up, but I would wait till the lines dwindled down that evening.

I could care less what color I am or what color anyone else is...and that goes for the cruise card too Wink Status means nothing to me.

Yes, I agree with this. I know its not a big deal but I prefer to have it correct as well. I would not make a fuss over it but given the chance I would inquire about it.

On the other hand, If I were given a black or white card instead of a gold card, then I wouldn't say a wordWink

For the most part, we don't care about precious metals. That being said, we'll know more after our next NCL cruise since we are now Platinum with them. Not sure what exactly the perks are, but they are better than they were. I think we get a meal in LeBistro for free, which is a good thing. So are the chocolate strawberries in the cabin. Laundry discounts are always good. A friend is looking into some 5 day Canada trips. We like those.

When cruising, my perks are important to me, but I couldn't care less about others' level.

(BAK - this reply was in no way meant for you -- I assume you were not flaunting, but simply stating opinion -- an opinion I agree with at thatBig Smile)

The beer on the ship tastes just as good to a blue card holder as it does to a platinum card holder. That is my philosophy

That is a good philosophy!

I would go to the desk, some card levels on some lines get free cocktail party every night..... I do enjoy my free drinks. For some reason, that beer taste better when it's free.Wink
