Lost its Cache......but why ?

I had a rant here, but I deleted the entire thing.    To put it simply, cruising has lost its cache.    For several reasons, including profits.......people who probably shouldn't be cruising........people who only occupy suites and private areas........nevermind

Well take a deep breath. We can all be happy that we can take cruises and not be in a situation where we are simply struggling just to eat and drink clean water. Yes I've been on cruises with people that I wished weren't on the ship. But not going to let it bother me. There are a lot of places in life where I meet people that I wish weren't within a thousand miles of me. Can't do anything about it, just have to suck it up and go on with life.

I have some friends who have cruised a few times, they are going again later this year. I can't wait to hear what they think about the recent changes since their last cruise.

I hope to report back on that.

But, BAK, you are not wrong. Sometime the changes they make are not always good. Remember... The New Coke?

for whatever reason, that new coke kept getting stuck on my nasal hair

That New Coke caused me to drink RC cola. IDK?

That's why I always wondered about the long lines at customer service desks. How can so many people have so many issues?

Cruising is not what it used to be but it is better today then what it will be tomorrow. So enjoy today.

I think part of it is the prices of cruises have not gone up with the price of other things, a $ 100.00 a night cruise of 1970 would be $ 630.00 a night 2017 cruise. I see it as now to get what we used to get we would now have to step up to the high end cruise lines.

They still have cruise lines that charge the same, and give pretty much the same service, as they did 30 or more years ago.

Unfortunately, the same as then, I cannot afford them now.

Although the amenities are gone, the service (for the most part) and the experience has not changed that much.

The longest lines are the day gratuities are added to accounts. Love seeing folks who have been having a great cruise standing in line declaring total misery for the week.

Good answers from everyone. My humble opinion is that many of us who are "seasoned" cruisers are still wanting that first experience back. One of the reasons we enjoy cruising with first time cruisers is that we get to relive (through their view) the awe and magic of the first adventure. i won't deny that there are less amenities from many cruise lines, but the whole experience of relaxation and "pampering" is still available for the new comer.

I cruise to relax. If I want to be pampered, I'd stay home.
