Looking for a short kid friendly cruise

I would like to introduce my 2 young grand children to cruising. 1 is 4 the other is 5. the 4 year old hasnt slept outside of home much so I dont want to do a long cruise until I know he can handle it. What cruise line  is best for this. I would prefer to use the NY or NJ port and not introduce flying too. A 3 night cruise is what im considering. Whats your thoughts?

I know that Disney Cruise Line does shorter cruises from New York sometimes. That's probably the best if you can afford their premium prices! Otherwise, I hear that Carnival has a great kids' program onboard.

I looked into Disney and yes their prices are quite high. I heard good and not so good about them. I will see what Carnival has. Thank you!

Carnival offers short cruises and they are really family friendly. They offer programs for the children, and they are much more budget friendly than Disney.

I'd suggest a 4 night mid week cruise.   I have done 4 night mid week and 3 night weekend cruises.   The 3 night weekend cruises are much more party cruises where the 4 night midweek gets more family then single party people (that is the way it is out of Los Angeles).  I would also check different lines that the 4 year old can go to the children's center.

Carnival has a wonderful kids program. My grands love to go. Our most introverted grand actually begs to go whether his cousins will be there or not. They have sailed with us on the Fascination and on Splendor.

Took the words right out of my mouth!

Oh my !  I was under the impression children were sorted by age, not height.    How short is your child ?

Lol!

I think it is a new test program from Disney -- I'm sure there is a news story about it somewhere.

What happens to the ones who aren't tall enough to get on the ship????
