Limited postings ? WTH ?

are we being limited to how many posts we can make now ?   Has anyone else received this nasty little message on their screen ?

Your account has exceeded maximum number of comments in 10 minutes. Please wait and try again

‘When did this start ?     Perhaps an explanation is in order, so some of us can decide if it’s worth staying on this site.

What information was given on the maximum allowable posting with those 600 seconds?

I haven't yet but might tonight as I'm trying to catch up on the threads.  There are a handful of nuisances about the site that kinda bug me.  But not enough to leave it.

I do wish they'd put the page number selectors back up on the top!!!!!

I wonder if this is to reduce the possibility of spamming.  I know FV used to get inundated with spam posts.

I hope that's the idea behind it.  I agree that an explanation is in order.

I used to get this when I first joined.  I just waited a bit and posted easily. I haven't had it for a long time.

no no.. You are all wrong... What happens is people try to gain unwarranted points for their account by liking to many reviews of making to many comments on reviews ect... You can post as much as you like on the forum but this site slows you down if you go haywire on reviews and other areas on the site.

Huh ?

I used to get that before I started reading slower.

I think it is the sites way of trying to reduce spam accounts. The spammer would only be allowed to make about 5 or so posts before being timed out. Chances are that they would not sit around and wait.

It may be a PITA once in a while to an active poster, but I think the benefit is worth it.

It is nothing personal, and certainly nothing worth leaving the site over.

We do have a limit to the number of comments that can be made per 10 minutes across the site. As has been mentioned, this is to prevent spammers and those who are trying to comment anything, anywhere just to gain points in our member system.
