Unfortunately CCL is going in the same direction.
Sadly, RCCL is not the only line cutting back. Carnival and Norwegian are also doing it. Now, with Royal, you can move up to Celebrity. Carnival cruisers can move up to Princess, and / or HAL. All three options are good for seasoned cruisers.
As far as offering activities for certain groups, I don't have any issues with how events are planned. There are plenty of things to do on a ship. Remember, the world is made up of all kinds. This is a relatively new market for cruise lines. It's about time they tried to catch up.
That is how I have started feeling as well. The only two bad cruises I have ever been on were 1: Norwegian Epic. Poor generic brand foods such as "catsup" and "Sanape" (very pail mustard I guess) and 2: was Navigator out of Galveston. So kind of coincidental that It was another Galveston cruise.
I would suggest you try Celebrity Cruise line. All of the lines have cut back, to get the old regular level of food and service now you have to go to a premium cruise line. If you go on Celebrity you Captains Club level with transfer and you will get all the same perks with out having to start over.
Remember "Cruising in not what is used to be, but it is better now then what it is becoming"
The events for "heterosexual" Couples and singles to meet and greet is in every bar, the pool, the MDR, the Lido or anyplace they want to say hello to each other. It is easier to pick them out of the crowd then the LGBT community.
