Larimar Jewelry in the Caribbean and Mexico

One of the best bargains you can find in ports when cruising is Larimar Jewelry.  It's become more popular recently and hence higher prices because it is only harvested in the Dominican Republic.  Ironically, many vendors mix their turquoise pieces in with their larimar ... not sure why because they are two different stones.  I began collecting it years ago because it reminds me of the ocean.  I have bought some incredible pieces in Cozumel, Dominica and Aruba - sterling silver pendants and earrings for less than $30 ...check it out on your next cruise....

Larimar, also called "Stefilia's Stone", is a rare blue variety of the silicate mineral pectolite found only in the Dominican Republic, in the Caribbean. It is "turquoise" in color.

Will do! I have been on a "I will buy a good piece of jewelry each cruise" kick. I bought Tanzanite once cruise, and then an effy set last cruise.

I love larimar and buy whenever I can on cruises.
