Lanyards

In 2014 when we cruised on carnival we received lanyards for our sign & sail cards when I purchased pictures.   In December we are cruising with our 3 children do you recommend I bring lanyards with us for them.   Are there any other recommendations for 2nd time cruiaers but 1st with kids?

Lanyards are great for kids.    I got some on Amazon that I bring with me for first time cruising friends.

When I sailed Carnival two times this year they didn't hand out free lanyards.  So definitely bring your own.

Buy them on the ship you can get them with the ships name

You can get them in the shops onboard, but at a premium.

A less expensive way is to get them at your local WalMart, or at Amazon for about half the price.

IMHO, children wearing lanyards poses a safety hazard.  All you need is one kid pulling on it too hard from behind, or if the child is running, and that thing is flapping around, for it to accidentally catch on something.      I would rather see it attached to a retractable device that is pinned on.   Orvis or Dick;s sporting goods will have such a device that is used in fly fishing.

something like this;

Good point with the kids lanyards. If you do go the lanyard route, and the kids are young, make sure you get the "breakaway" lanyards that are designed to break rather than strangle.

These usually include a plastic clip or Velcro somewhere on the loop part.

As far as the belt clips, I do not like them as much - they seem too easy to slide off whatever they are clipped to and the plastic line seems too thin and fragile.

Of course I use one of those for work and have never lost my work card...

That one pins on to a shirt, or a fishing vest.

Bring your own & enjoy your cruise.

I've never seen, or even heard, of a pin on one -- it sounds like a good idea.

I had at least 4 on my vest.
