Going on my first cruise on Jewel of the Seas in August through the Greek Isles. My mom just went on a cruise with NCL and she mentioned that they had formal nights and a white party where everyone wore white. I haven't seen anything on my itinerary on Cruise Planner about any formal nights or anything. Does anyone have any insight as to when these formal nights/themed nights will be announced? Does RC even do these kinds of nights? Thanks!
Jewel of the Seas
I believe you will be on a 7 Nights Eastern Mediterranean Cruise from Civitavecchia (Rome) - Roundtrip, is that correct? The normal thing for Royal on a 7 night cruise is to have one formal night. But really nothing to worry about as Formal does not mean what it did several years ago.
Formal night in general is the first sea day or the second to last or last night of the cruise. Men the dress is recommend to be Jacket & Tie, or Black Tie, lades Evening Dress. But really it is open, some men in Tux (very Few) some suit, some sports coat, and some with just nice pants and a polo shirt. Ladies are mostly in dress, but again I have seen formal evening dresses, cocktail dresses, slacks, and several very questionable choices.
If a friend asked me I would say bring one dress that is knee length or longer and it will be fine for formal night. Also if you go the the buffet (Windjammer Cafe) The dress code is the same as any other night. On a normal night, for Dinner the line says no shorts, collarless shirts for men or swimwear. But if I had payment for every person I have seen on Royal breaking the dress codes I would be able to purchase a long cruise for free.
Just go on your trip and enjoy the cruise
