Is the Carnival Splendor really that bad?

Been reading all sorts of bad reviews for the Carnival Splendor. My husband and I are sailing to Hawaii on board the Splendor December 1st, 2018. Now I really concerned. It's for our 37th wedding anniversary and we are in a Premium Vista Balcony Stateroom.

I've been reading of mixups with steakhouse reservations, advance gift orders missing, poor customer service, lost pre-paid excursions, and so on.

We booked over a year ago and have so looked forward to this cruise. Now I'm worried that we'll just have to "batten down the hatches" and endure?

What has been your experience? Has anyone else sailed the Splendor to Hawaii?

Thanks for any input as to how to cope, if things turn-out bad.....

Our sailing on the Splendor (Jan. 2016) was very good. The ship will strike you as very pink when you first board, but after a little while you will hardly notice. The crew we had was the wonderful friendly type we expect when sailing Carnival. I couldn't get the link for that review to show copy, but if you go to my profile you'll be able to read a positive review. Hope that helps.

Thanks so much. I will go and look.Happy

Spa was dirty. Locker room smelled moldy, and was poorly lit. Ship itself was okay. Cafe / dessert bar was good. Jazz bar was nice. Overall, I thought the Glory was better.

Keep in mind, crew and officers change regularly. I have been on a ship that I thought was getting run down, a year later we were back on the same ship with a new captain and it was spotless, felt like a different ship.

Bad reviews of crew today will not be the same crew that will be on the ship in 6 months.

I think you will have a great cruise Big Smile

Thank you so much for you insight!👌

The thick layer of dust and cobwebs over the Thalossatherapy Pool wasn’t just because of a recent. crew. That took time to build up. But hey, maybe they finally got around to it.

We sailed on this ship and had no issues. Really enjoyed our cruise.

We had spa cabin, and the thalassotherapy pool area and the rest of the spa was immaculate. This was probably a year after you sailed on her, so somebody must have taken note of the bad reviews.

We loved Splendor and would sail on her again in a heartbeat.

The Triumph is the ship we would not sail on again unless it was an itinerary or a price that we couldn't beat.

Others love her.

Only way to know for sure is to sail on a ship and see for yourself.

I sailed on the Splendor many years ago and had a good overall experience. I remember that the food was good the the crew was friendly. The negatives were loud poolside music and difficulty getting lounge chairs poolside. Enjoy your 37th wedding anniversary cruise to Hawaii. You will have a good time. Good with an open mind and forget about the negative reviews. Everyone sees things differently.

That was from the Halloween Cruise.
