Wonder if she'll spend her retirement cruising?

If she does, it won’t be on Royal or Celebrity

A lot seems to be missing from the circumstances involving the accident itself.

Just small items, such as how was RCI at fault?

Interesting story.  As a passenger, I tend to forget about things like this.

Royal Caribbean prices are going up LOL

This issue is in the back of my mind still when I go on cruises.  Here I am having a luxurious vacation while the crew and staff around me are being treated like $#%t by their bosses.  It’s one reason I don’t mind tipping generously.  It grieves me how badly the upper and mid management of cruise lines treats their workers.

Glad this lady received satisfaction for her injuries.

Glad that the lady got her due.  Shame on the cruise line.

I saw that one as well. The cruise lines tried to get away with something and got caught with their knickers at their knees. The total might be a bit high but considering how long it took and how hard RCCL fought ... looks good on them.

Oh wow!  that's a nice retirement.  I hope she has regained use of her hand though.

Nice to see she was paid well. But the cruise lines have changed the contracts and no longer allow crew to file cases within the United States. The cases are handle by arbitration or within the home country. RCCL has been on a big push to hire crew from the Philippines (I live in the Philippines) looking to add 30,000 plus crew members.

Part of the reason is cases just like this, under the current rules the maximum payout to a crew member from the Philippines is $50,000 dollars in case of death.  Plus Up to another 24,000 if the crew member has children. If this officer had been under the current contract and from the Philippines she would not have 20 million judgement it would be only $50,000 dollars.

I think this case will be one of the last big wins .for a crew member
