ships are getting larger , prices are going down in order to fill them . Cruising is rapidly losing its cache. Yet the nickel and dimeing is getting worse. Want to see a penny get flattened and embossed with a ship or "LUCKY PENNY " , it will cost you $1 on NCL.
How about all those stacks of bills in the claw machine, or the KeyMaster machine ? Tempting I know, but at $2 a pop ! Not to mention the fact that by using your s&s card you can't keep track of how much you've spent.
So, I started thinking of other ways the cruise lines can make money.
1). Water slides. They're getting bigger, charge per slide. Parents won't say no to their kids, and at a lowly $2 per, the ship will still make a fortune.
2). Restroom vending machines. Remember the days of putting a quarter in a wall mounted machine that spritzed some cologne ? How about vending a Carnival Condom or Tampon ? What a great souvenir for $1.
3). Set up a dining venue based on the Automat ( google it )
4). Golf cart rides to the end of the pier and back. Too long a walk just to get to the fun, too tired when you get back, take a shuttle to the entry point, and back! $1/passenger/ trip.
