I'm going on my first cruise this month and I'm wondering how much cash I need to have available? I've heard you don't pay for anything on the boat with cash but what about shopping in port? And excursions?
how much cash??
It depends on your plans. We book excursions ahead, pay for most things by credit card and don't buy trinkets in port so carry very little cash. Room service on the ship requires a bit of cash if you plan on using it (we often do breakfast on our balcony). You may have a different way of traveling.
TheCruiseExplorer - thanks for responding. So if we like to have coffee in our room in the morning, will we need to arrange for room service? Is that an extra room service charge or do you only need cash for tipping?
Just for tipping - we typically do $2 for a breakfast.
Welcome back Explorer! It's great to see you back posting! We're trying to keep the spammers at bay!
Well you do pay for beverages, but you can pre pay a package before, if not they will be charged to your account, take that into consideration, also if you are a gambler you might need cash for that as well, and excursions make sure to pick wisely because they tend to get quite costly......
glad to be of help
Cash wow, everyone has a different idea of just how much they need. And yes you are correct your room/sail and sign card is your cash while on the ship. A word of advise, every evening check the TV it will give you a complete total of amount spent. Also its broken down for each person that has charging privilages. Its very easy so hand that card for this and that and be totally amased when they slide that bill under the door just how much you have spent. We kept close tabs on ours. And even found a few drink charges THAT WERENT ours!! They do remove them with persistance ON YOUR PART.
