How does Carnival HUB work?

Do I need to buy an internet package in order for the Carnival HUB app to work on my phone?

Nope, the app works on the ship without needing to buy internet! The only thing you would need to pay for is if you chose to use the messaging/chat feature for contacting other guests around the ship, which I believe is $5 per phone for the entire cruise.

We were on a Carnival  cruise just 2 weeks ago, and loved using the app. CruiselineSarah is right. Download the app anytime, even before getting onboard, then click to open it once you have boarded. You will find the easy instructions to follow to get started using it. We download the app as soon as we book the cruise so we can see the countdown clock. The chat feature is a great way to keep in touch with cruise friends or lost spouses, LOL.

Worked very well for us.  That is the one thing we missed on RCI.

Got it downloaded and ready to use in November. Now when it gives instructions on how to use will it also show how to pay for the chat use?

yes it will.  I loved the App.  I checked it all the time to see my bar bill. And what was happening on board

You’ll be able to log into the Hub App once you are onboard the ship, and then you pay for the chat feature.

No, you only need the Internet package to use the texting feature if you want to use it.  I had the app preloaded on my phone before my last cruise with them and was able to use it while onboard the ship, even though I had no internet package.  It tells you everything that's going on around the ship that day.

I like having the app for the sake of the count down feature. But one of the things i like about going on a cruise is turning off my phone as soon as i get to my cabin and putting it in the safe for the duration. There are other ways to check your balance and find out whats going on on the ship. I love not having the phone with me all the time. But that's just me.
