Home Alone

Great debate going on in our household over my return from upcoming cruise.  My son is departing the ship in St. Maarten and I will be continuing on to Ft. Lauderdale where I fly home at 6:30 pm.

I was planning to get an Uber from the pier.  My son thinks I should book a shuttle.  My husband thinks I might as well do an "excursion" from the ship in Fort Lauderdale that ends up at the airport late afternoon.

I'm not afraid of traveling alone (pity the poor sap that tangles with me) but I'm torn about what to do when disembarking ... Your opinions and suggestions are welcome!

We have often done the shore tours upon returning to FLL due to late flights.  We have enjoyed them and it can be fun talking with fellow shipmates that you hadn't met while on board. Although since you have lived in FL before it may be hard to find one that interests you.  Good luck.

FLL has a baggage storage service for $7/bag.  It's located in the baggage claim area--no need to go through security.  We stored ours and then took a taxi to the beach area where we had a nice lunch and browsed a few shops.  It was easy to catch a cab back to the airport.  I'm sure you could do Uber as well.  Just be sure to check the closing time at the storage area--I believe it is 4:30 which would work out just about right for you.

The excursion sounds good - if you can figure out what to do with the luggage...

We've looked high and low for storage service on previous cruises and could never find it??!!! How long ago did you use it?

We used it in January.  I tried to post a link but it's not showing up.  The actual room we went to is at the end of a hall--takes a bit of doing to find, but someone was able to direct us.  Looks like they have locations at several terminals.

Check the FLL website under services.

You are awesome keywest1 - what great info!  Found the link:

:)  Hope it works out as well for you as it did for us.

I made a reservation and also might consider doing the free Sunshine Trolley they offer as a way to kill time... thanks again!!!

That's the beauty of the tour, they keep your luggage on (in) the bus and then they take your to the airport after your tour.

Maybe you should take an earlier flight to get home and get happier
