Holland cutting back on entertainment.
Just of the Statendam. We were told that Holland has done away with the Solo guitarist on the Vista class ships and maybe cutting them out totally. They are also going to do away with the singer for the Hal cats. I personally think this is a shame as I enjoy the live music in the lounges. What are your thoughts?
I wish I had an opinion on this, but sadly, I don't. I don't sail Holland America ( or any line ) because of the lounge singer.
I hate to hear of any cut backs on lounge singers or a lead singer in a band. On the ms Amsterdam I have many fond memories of visiting the Piano Bar and listening to Debby Bacon playing the piano, singing songs and playing several instruments. I also enjoyed the Hell Cats. Personally I would not visit any lounge if there was not live music performances. My one wish is that the music level be lowered on all ships.
It is a shame, I can remember there was a great guitar player in the informal dining on the Infinity when I went on her. Carnival has had some good performers at the Lobby bar, nice to sit back after dinner listen to the music and people watch. All lines are cutting back to keep the cabin cost low.
No live singer in the lounge equals NO lounge visit or money spent by us. LIVE entertainment is a must in our opinion
Personally, I have never chosen a cruise ship or cruise line based on its entertainment offerings, so I really do not care if HAL (my favorite line) cuts back or eliminates entirely some of its entertainment.
