Hello From Maryland!

Hello fellow cruisers!

I am new the to site, and will be cruising in 4 days on the Allure! I am from Maryland (originally from Buffalo!). Has anyone had any successful get together's from the site on cruises? I've made friends while on a cruise before (in my younger years).  My boyfriend is not super social and wondering how to best break through that and have him enjoy fully the cruise experience and meeting cool peeps!

Welcome to the site.  I hope you have a great cruise.  Your bf should have a good time.  On a ship the size of the Oasis there will be plenty for him to do or nothing for him to do depending on what he wants to do.   I find making friends on a ship is easy,  people are in relaxed vacation mode and tend to be open and friendly.  I talk to people at the bars,  MDR, pool side, in the serenity or on excursions.

I would suggest you sign up for Roll call on the smart phone App "Ship Mate"  There you can post that your looking for other young couples to meet.  Besides roll call it also gives you non-ship excursions in each port and past travelers have left suggestions of where is good to eat, shop or things to see in ports.

Thanks!
I did sign up for the roll call through the app. I actually found the app, before the site. The app tends to get me in a little trouble, and I obsessively check to see where the ship is and the posts as well

Welcome to the site. Can't help you with the break through. Been trying with wife for years. He can enjoy without much socializing.

Some of us tend to enjoy the cruise more with our Hunnys Love rather than socializing with strangers. Don't try to force him into something he doesn't want, but be there to guide him if he does. Perhaps make a few friends on your own, then introduce them to your boyfriend in a small group.

(Some of us are by nature a bit anti-social or shy. I would rather spend time by myself rather than be the one to start a conversation with someone I do not know. However, if someone starts one with me, I am happy to try to continue it.)

We have 3 couple who have been friends now for 8 years and a couple of sisters we met  on board who have remained friends with us for years now. Add to that half a dozen crew members who have become friends as well.

Cruising is a great way to meet people and make great friendships. You guys will find your own way.

Hey from North Carolina! There are also roll calls on Facebook and Cruise Critic. I've met some great people through those roll calls.
