Have to change plans---again

Good day to all,

Sorry I've not been as active lately. Both myself and Monique have new positions in our respective fields. Add to that a brand new grand daughter. I'm sure you get the picture if you have been there and done that.

We will be forced, by schedules, to cancel our New Orleans cruise on NCL in Feb 2019 for our 40th.

Now, all is not lost, the time share the family has will give us some golf time in Kona next week, but that's not the same a cruising.

We will be looking for something in February to celebrate, but time is limited and expenses are a concern at this time. Ideas from others will be welcome. bearing in mind that due to the exchange with the Canadian dollar versus the U.S. dollar. Canadian friends may offer choices and they will be welcome, but we won't be travelling within the states or where U.S. dollars are a factor. The Kona trip has been paid for since last year and it will cost more to cancel than to go.

Any ideas or suggestion are most welcome.

I hope to get more active as late fall as winter roll in to Alberta... Probably in September or so.

Hi John - it's great to see you again. Congrats on the new job position to both you and Monique, and also on the birth of your new grandbaby. After the long winter you Albertans had, a vacation is definitely in order! Have you considered an Okanagan getaway? Our winters are dreary and overcast, but not severe like yours, and you can get into the sunshine by going up to Big White even if you are not a skier. Many Okanagan golf courses open in February too, especially ones around Oliver and Osoyoos. Something to think sbout - not too far from home, and there are definitely some beautiful places to celebrate your 40th Anniversary with gourmet meals and award winning wines.

I don't know where your from but I loved out west (in Canada) Jasper, Lake Louise and Banff areas. I reallyyyyy want to go back but sadly it is soooo expensive that it's just not doable right now.

My parents took me there when I was younger and sadly I didn't really appreciate the beauty.

I've been playing with the idea of a coast-to-coast train trip up there -- perhaps that might do it for you?

Congratulations on all the great changes to your life!

Well BD, a wine tour is a very good option. We have spent many days in the area. I have quite a number of good friends in the area. I will put that in the mix for options.

I'm sure out family time share has that option. Thanks for the suggestion.

We visit Jasper at least once every year. It's only a few hours from Edmonton. It is expensive though.

Sorry to hear about having to change the cruise plans John. For some reason life does tend to happen and frequently interferes with plans. If you are looking for something to do in Canada during Feb there is always the Quebec Winter Carnival which begins Feb 5 and there is also Niagara Falls which is beautiful and quite full of life in the winter. Both have much to offer and are worth considering. There is also Toronto with the large theatre district and many many excellent shows always on tap.

Here is to hoping that you find a suitable Feb vacation to celebrate a very special milestone. Cheers,

Congratulations on all the good that is going on in your life and I hope it continues to "rain down" upon you! Sorry your cruise was a victim of the happiness. I can't help with your travel plans, but wish you a wonderful adventure whatever you decide....

It’s always wine time here in the Okanagan with more than 180 licensed wineries along the 250 km length of the valley.
