Have any of the Cruise Lines gone to Digital / Bar code Scanning for Check-in? Check-in via your phone?

I'm not a fan of paperless boarding passes on airlines ... still like it printed out but I wonder if ships will ever go (or have gone) to that method?

No, but you can have your children chipped in case they slip their leash

Wonder if the new Ocean Medallion makes paper boarding passes obsolete.  I'll find out from my sister who is going on a Princess cruise that uses it.

On the Royal last month, discussion regarding the Ocean Medallion (they are one of the ships who will be offering) was clear that the use of the Ocean Medallion would be optional ...which I think is smart because it is not for everyone!

I sure hope they do not...I am not a fan of becoming so dependent on digital.

Me neither ... it sounds pretty certain that they will offer both ... I believe they are trying to capture the "younger tech-oriented" market".

Haven't seen it yet. I prefer paper docs too. With the barcodes on our ID's and passports, it's only a matter of time...

Nothing is more aggravating to me than being in line to board an airplane and have someone's phone go dead or lose the boarding pass and they hold up the line ...To me it slows down the process ...

technology - the bane of my existence!

Took me awhile to warm up to the digital boarding pass for boarding planes even though I work for an airline.  Now I do it all the time.  But the option for both still exists and hopefully both options will continue to be made available.

I'd like to see that with cruise ships, have paper or digital boarding pass as options.

(BTW, digital tickets are available for Amtrak travel.  Time for the cruise lines to join the digital age IMO).
