Has Anyone Ever Won a Free Cruise?

Lots of times I get these postcards in the mail saying that I won a free cruise in a drawing.  I never call them back.

I have earned free cruises by going to Timeshare talks.  But, you have to be pretty insistent to get away with being there only 45 minutes.  Once we went on our free cruise and spoke to a person next to me who went to the same Timeshare talk that I went to.  She said that she & her husband were there for 6, yes, I mean 6 hours.  She saw us leave after 45 minutes and recognized me on the ship.  I was pretty impressed that she even remembered me.  Neither of us bought a timeshare.  We don't go to these things anymore now.

I have never been so lucky to win a cruise.  I've had the unfortunate luck of attending a timeshare presentation for a free vacation (not a cruise). Was able to escape after 2 hours...they are relentless.

I won our first cruise! Local Safeway stores(grocery store for those that are not familiar with the name) were having a 100 days of Summer promotion, that include 20 cruises for 2 for using the new (at that time) Safeway card.  The DH did not want to ever go on a cruise and when I won was convinced it was a scam and asked to see the paperwork.  It was legit and I gave him the option of going with me or I'd take someone else... I was going!  Needles to say... he liked it and we will be going on our 31st cruise in two weeks.Love

These people are relentless, I agree.  My sister, though, has purchased three timeshares.  I get to go on all her vacations with her.  A friend gave her a fourth one.  So, she gave two away to her children.  She couldn't sell them.  We are going on a vacation in May to one of her trades.

I get the cards in the mail, and put them into the recycling bin.  I have never won a free cruise but I have won a ship on a stick.

We have an aversion to anything being "free" because we don't consider our time and attention to be free.  There is always a cost involved.  Taking up even 45 minute of our time would be a cost, let alone 6 hours... wow, they really earned their cruise.

Is free really free????

With that said, I have never gotten a free cruise. I never even got an upgrade!

No, I have received a couple of phone calls saying I won a free cruise. When I say cool send me the info, they tell what I have to do to claim it. All of the sudden its not free.Surprised

My Princess cruise to Mexico in Dec 2015 was free as a local loyalty program at a Casino.  My cost was port fees only ($110) and of course gratuities. There were three of us (my son, and a friend of mine) and we had bunk beds in an inside cabin. We had a blast in spite of the fact that I felt like a bird perched in a nest in a tree on my top bunk.  There were no hidden costs.

We spent quite a bit on excursions and not to my surprise, Princess gave me an offer for a 10 day "free" Caribbean cruise (which my son and I took in April)

This began a relationship with Princess that has been a great cost savings and multiple cruises!
