Happy Days are Here Again---Or so it appears

On today's financial scene the market took a dive. But Carnival Corporation had good news for investors, or so it appears.

"The cruise-ship company has benefited in recent quarters from broad-based booking strength and lower fuel costs. Fuel prices dropped 46% from a year earlier, a steeper drop than the company had projected.

Meanwhile, Carnival lifted ticket prices. "We have begun to sell at higher prices than the same time last year, particularly close to departure," said Chief Executive Arnold Donald. Bookings for the first three quarters of 2016 are ahead of the prior year at slightly higher prices, the company said, though ticket revenue is down from the same period last year."

We saw the Q4 results as well. Not crazy about the hike in prices but it is understandable and probably a bit overdue.

So..... cruise prices have been increased and oil prices have dropped 46 % yet Carnival cut the Lobster and good steak on short cruises.

When Oil went high there was a surcharge per passenger, how about a low Oil price on board credit when oil prices drop ?

OK, I'm done with my rant.

I'm not surprised the cruise prices are going up -- the price of everything is going up.

I am surprised it took so long to start raising them.

Perhaps now that they have broken that barrier, they may start reinstating some of what they have taken.

So at the end of the day, the only one that suffers here is the end user or those of us that cruise. Seems like we are being taken advantage of at every corner we turn!

The recession is over and people are spending money again. So, up go prices.

Good news for us shareholders.
