Gumbo Limbo Nature Center near Port Everglades

Killing time a day before or after cruise?  Highly recommend Gumbo Limbo Nature Center (Boca Raton) roughly an hour from Port Everglades.  Admission is a suggested donation of $5. Depending upon time of year, there are turtle walks & hatching releases, butterfly gardens and aquariums.

I love gumbo, but can't limbo worth a crap.

This would be better as a port tip. I'm always checking those out especially when we are arriving a day or two before embarkation.

Thats cool! Usually we never rent a car, we just get to the hotel and relax the day before. Most hotels have stores within walking distance, but if we ever get a rental, that might be on the list... Right after the glades and a trip to Miami to find the Dexter apartment and spots.

For future reference, this is the cost of a rental car for one day which you can pick up at the airport and drop off at the pier then ride free shuttle to terminal.  Since there are two of us, it is a way cheaper way to go.

I have actually been here but not before or after a cruise.  The nature center is interesting and a nice place to visit for a few hours.I'll be in the Ft. Lauderdale area next month.  .

Thanks so much for that information. As a new cruiser, we have been trying to figure out if it is cost effective to rent a car for the 24 hours we will be in town before the cruise departs. I had just started checking the various websites.

Sounds like a really cool place!  Thanks for sharing the information. Happy
