Gratuities..Prepay or Pay On Board

So what do you do when it comes to paying the gratuities? Prepaid or pay as you go. Which one do you think is the best to do?

We prepaid for the first time on our last cruise. I will be prepaying from now on. One less charge at the end of the week. Though I still miss the old envelopes we used to get.
I find I worry less about money if I prepay, so that's generally the way I try to go.
We always prepay because it is one less thing to worry about and they deserve it.
I don't like to prepay... I never had bad service on a ship, but I feel like it is sort of.... paying the server for your meal before you even get seated at the table.
I see your point. However, if you cruise NCL you probably won't get the same server twice. The tips also go towards everyone that works the buffets, who in the past, never received tips ( unless they waited the MDRs too). At first I found it offensive to have to tip everyone I don't see, but I get it. My steward always gets extra anyway.
I have been told if the service was really bad you can contact guest services and they will give a partial refund of the gratuities.
