Grandeur Diverted

So the ship that had to leave early from port and left many behind ended up going to Cape Liberty (NJ?), but RCI is giving a 100% future cruise credit... That is some good compensation.

Odd question ..If they receive a future cruise credit, does that negate their travel insurance or do they get both?

They should get both. The insurance would cover the current cruise. Many won't be able to use the future voucher, depending on the limitations of it.

However, depending on the wordage of the insurance policy, they may see the voucher as compensation enough.

There will be those that will spin this on the negative side, blasting the industry and the line for abandoning folks on the dock. The inherent risks of sailing during the storm season should be made to the passengers at time of booking.

As usual forewarned if forearmed.

Sounds more than fair.

It was good of the cruise line to offer this since it is "an act of God" and not their fault.

I wish I could get my hands on that voucher lol

Not a bad deal. Things happen and weather can't be controlled.

A separate thread addressed cruise contracts... how reading them is important, etc. This is an example of a cancellation for reasons that are out of the cruise line's control. It's not a mystery... it is in the fine print. Why people get all up in arms about it, I don't understand except to think they never bothered reading their passenger contract. Sure be disappointed but hostility toward the cruise line is misplaced. Their proposed compensation sound reasonable to me.

Which God ? And why does he care about a stupid cruise ?

Poseidon the Greek god of all that is water!
