Gawking tourists

Today when I was making a supply run to COSTCO I got stopped at a railroad crossing on "C Street". Here came the Alaska version of the "Wabash Cannon Ball" from Seward. Loaded with cruise ship visitors, many getting their first glimpse of Alaska's big City.    As I sat there gawking at them as they gawked through the coach windows at me, I thought of the irony of it all. I'm sure a lot of them have much more cruising under their belts than I have and we just recently passed the 600 days on the high seas landmark. But, as I was wondering what they were thinking, it occurred to me that many times I had been sitting in seats similar to their's peering out at the passing peasantry.   I was envious. Darn, still 233 days to go before we join them.

What a beautiful train!  You wish you were on a cruise, they're probably envious you get to live in Alaska ..

I've been to Alaska once for work and liked it a lot.  Everyone that I've talked to that's been up there said they loved it and only reason they moved was for family or work reasons.  If it weren't for having to help my parents I'd transfer up there with my company.

Kids were in the Air Force and were stationed in Alaska about 8 years ago. They fell in love and decided that was home. After visiting we fell too. We are there about 7 months a year. Beautiful place. Yet I still never tire of the Alsaka cruises. Go figure.

We've done two Alaska cruises. We want to do a cruise/tour next.
