Flight arrangements - On your own or through your cruise line?

Seems that all the major cruise lines have partnered with air travel arrangers (e.g., Air2Sea, EZair, Air Sea Program). For cruisers who fly to their embarkation port, do you make your own arrangements directly with an airline or do you go through the cruise line's preferred vendor?  What has your experience been like?  Personal experience plusses and minuses, please!

Thank you

We will probably do the air / hotel through Michael & Amy for the CruiseLine cruise. Usually we do it ourselves.

My wife has her own personal cruise planner, airline booker, kinda guy.....Me! LOL I do it all because I love it! Have done it for friends too, because it adds to the excitement

I will do it myself for domestic round trip flights. For one way and/or overseas flights, I believe I would go with the cruise line, as they seem to have much better pricing.

Probably the same for us, we are wanting to get in a day early and stay a couple of days after.

We will see as we get closer.

Always do my own mainly through Southwest Airlines and occasionally Expedia-AARP. Expedia-Aarp is my go-to for hotel reservations. Alamo Insiders is my go-to for rental cars. I have booked a cruise after finding a super airfare deal. Driving to LA is only 4 hours, but I usually fly for $38 so skip the drive.

Before I do final booking, I compare it to cruise lines ez-air and other sources to be sure it's a good deal.

I book myself. I actually like doing the search.

Me too, my wife. I just know where to be and I'm the pack mule.

I book myself so I can stay a few days before or after. I like to research the hotel and get flights at good times, not a late night flight that keep me in the airport all day after a cruise.

I research and book my own flight through hotwire.com or priceline.com. I fly in a day early and sometimes I stay in Miami for a few days

We book our own to get the time of day we prefer. The hotels we research and have places we really like or want to avoid. I like doing it, the DH does not. When he does it things sometimes go awry.
