Hello Skaugie and welcome to the wonderful world of cruising.

What to pack?...Where are you going and for how long?

What cruise line? On Princess and others they have formal nights. Everyone get dressed up. On a Carnival fun ship.... Everyone parties...

Don't try to do everything... Look for onboard activities that you know you will enjoy, and maybe stop in on a few new ones.

I would recommend that you try the spa, at least once.

DON'T run around naked on the main deck......you may get a sunburn in places that should not get sunburned........and security frowns on that anyway.Wink

DO enjoy yourself, remember cruising is addictive.. just ask anyone on this site.Wink

Hi Skaugie!  Looks like you’re aboard Emerald Princess to the Western Caribbean.
The shipboard entertainment should be great; plan on going to the main shows and keep your eye on the daily newsletter for smaller shows in the atrium.  Princess makes delicious pasta dishes, try as many as you can (in the dining room ask for a “starter” of the pasta entre; you’ll get a small portion and still be able to try something else as well).  Plan a shore excursion for Belize; it’s not much of a port for exploring on your own.
Most importantly: have fun, relax and enjoy!  You’ll probably find yourself thinking about your next cruise before your first one’s even over!
Let us know if you have any specific questions.  Happy cruising!

Be sure to pack a power strip,  only one outlet in a cabin,  not enough for cellphones, camera, lap top or tablets  any over the counter drug store items you may need and extra RX's,  Flash light or batter operated lantern (so you don't need bright lite in case one of you goes to restroom at night and in case of emergency).

Most lines allow you to take on some soda's, water bottles and a 750 ml of wine per adult (check with the line your going on)

Check the weather,  in humid places you may need more changes of clothing,   Last October I had to change after each day in port in the Caribbean Islands.  20 foot off the ship and soaking wet.

Every night you will get a paper telling you what the events of the next day will be so you can pick what you want to do at what time.  You can not do everything,  leave some down time to relax and enjoy ship life.

Most important is to have fun.

If you can't make up your mind about two dishes in the Main Dining Room, request both.  Don't hesitate to ask your server for a recommendation on what to order. Avoid lines and dine early.   Get to the shows early for a good seat.    Pack comfortable clothes. Bring a couple of nice clothes for formal nights. Sometimes, ship public areas are cool so bring a light weight sweater for evening wear.  Pack for the weather conditions that you will experience on the ship.  Bring a small umbrella - you never know.   Just be yourself, you don't need to impress anyone.  Relax and have fun.  Be friendly and you will make friends.  Happy

I agree with what everyone has suggested. My only advise is to make sure you check you bill after a few days. It can get away from you. It is easier to fix an error the sooner you find it. Enjoy.

Forgot one.....take the stairs in the ship,  it will help burn off all the extra calories from ship food :-)
