First Time Cruisers - Be Ready!

Every time you get off and on the cruise ship at ports, your cruise card MUST be scanned.  Have it out and ready with bar code side up when you get in line to get off.  Do not wait till you are at security to dig through your bag looking for it and slowing up the entire process!

To get back on, you will have to show it again probably twice.  Once face side up with the ship name showing to get through the port security (A photo id is also usually required and rarely a passport - they will tell you which ID you need to get back on the ship) And then again, bar code side up going back through security on the ship.

This isn't always first time cruisers.  Sometimes it is those that don't care if they hold up the line, because they are the ONLY important people on the cruise.  This seems to always happen when my bladder decides it is full and I start hurting and doing "the dance".Crying

Certainly is frustrating when I see that.  There are several staff members reminding us to have cards ready and still passengers wait until they are right up to the person with the scanner.  People are strange.

At the end of the port time when so many people are trying to get back on the ship, it really does slow things down when people who don't have their S&S card ready to scan.

Oh yea, we are generally not the offenders for the cards, both Danyl and I are so cognizant of wanting to make sure we have all of our ducks in a row it borders on Felix Unger. However, when not on a cruise, OMG is something falls into Hermione Jean Grangers shoulder bag... the boys and I have gone diving inside that thing. Danyl always has enough items to make MacGyver give up his Swiss Army knife...

I even wear my card around my neck on a lanyard so I do not misplace it or drop it on line.  It really speeds things up if everyone has their card ready.

Embarkation, need to have passports and health papers ready for customs check in

Same here, I always wear my card on a lanyard.  I always see people who are right up to the scanner digging around in pocket or purse for their card.  Lots of people simple don't give a hoot and don't bother listening or looking at the signs.

We got held up because one guy shaved and did not look like his photo,  held up the line as they questioned him.

I see that as sex discrimination,  if a woman shaves her mustache they would not stop the line and question her,  they'd just say "looking good" and keep the line moving Big Smile

LOL to both of those.

LOL....... and true.
