FINDING EACH OTHER

OK, sounds dumb, but that's why I make the big bux...yuk yuk...theres no PM capability...so assuming a buncha peeps want to meet n greet on a ship, how?  you certainly don't want to put pvt info out in cyber....awhile ago I helped someone locate her cabin and change it. (it was under the MDR.) I asked her what her cabin # was and she responded...after I did it I realized what I had done...felt kinda uncomfortable about it....mebbe it was no biggie...either way...how do I find someone who is on the same cruise as me???

Roll calls are a great way--you can arrange to meet up in an agreed upon location.  I have seen the link posted here to the Cruiseline/Shipmate roll calls.

CC does meet and mingles--those are organized on their website.  You can check your roll call there to see if anyone has one arranged.  There is one for our cruise at end of month with all the names of those attending.  Since we have the kiddos we won't be doing that.

There was an informal meet-up on our Carnival Breeze cruise.  It was nice to meet a fellow Funvillian and his wife.  He never made it over here :(

Thanks GrandmaJo….I joined two rosters for my next two...seems like folks in there don't post much more than one liners..ask a question and its moren likely you wont get an answer. And if you do, its not like in here...might take a week or more for anyone to notice..Additionally, I get no email notifications when someone posts...yes I joined correctly...wrote admin....problem persists...no biggie....cyber is what it is... once in awhile I go look...mebbe the problem is more widespread than anyone realizes...my next one is about 2 months off, as you can see..I would've thought thered be more action in there by now...

Some people arrange meet and greet parties through Facebook groups formed for their cruise. I’ve arranged to meet up with a couple of forum members before their west coast cruise later this month, and it started with a thread for the cruise then we contacted each other via Shipmate messaging.

We invited everyone to join us.  Anytime you think there might be a chance to meet with a "regular" poster, do it!  I frequently check the whole roll call just in case.  I almost got to meet CruiselineSarah when we sailed on the Vista together, but we didn't set up and exact meeting place or time.  Hopefully, there will be another chance.  Looking forward to meeting BonMike, JCOALML, & JusMe.Big Smile

Putting a face to a posters name would be a fun meet and greet.

On Cruise Critic, you can sign up for a "Meet And Mingle" with others that are on your cruise.  I've never done one.

SO I should really have "cruise critic", and an app and facebook...not a chance...…….I happen to like this site...except for a couple things...and in the scheme of things they don't matter....

Looks like I am actually going to get to meet Cromp and Mrs Cromp when we sail from NYC at the end of the monthBig Smile  (aka BAK, aka Bennett).  He was one of the first friends I made on Funville when we started cruising in 2013.

I really wish we could have made Seattle work as well.  I feel like I know so many here--it would be more like a reunion than a first meeting Happy

Actually, we only used the app to exchange e-mail addresses for fine tuning some specifics for this cruise that we didn't think everyone needed to know.  So for us the app has been used to use the PM for our benefit.

We did meet up once with a group from a Funville (the Carnival forum where many of us met, but is no longer) roll call. One member of the roll call just said let's all meet at the casino between 2-4 on the first sea day.  If you are interested in being part of a slot pull (we were not) let me know and I'll set that for 4.  It turned out they were in the neighboring cabin and very nice folks.  It was funny, because at 2 there were only four people there; us and this couple.  By three there were about 20 and we left after meeting a few, most were more interested in the slot pull not socializing.

All I can recommend is that if you really want to meet some of the folks on the forum (either on a cruise or somewhere where you figure you both might be) say something here and see what happens. That is how this September cruise started.  For example: is you know you'll be in CO during the Renaissance Festival and you want to meet me,  tell me what day you'll be there and I'll do my best to set up a time and place to meet you.  If I'm in your neighborhood for some event, I would let you know and we could try to do the same.

Be sure to pass along a hello from me.  I miss him and hope there will be a time when he can return to the forum.
