I tend to enjoy staying in the port area for most ports -- sun, beach, bars, etc.

I understand that there are several good tours in St Maartin, but I didn't go on them. If you want to get away from the port area, then a taxi would be an inexpensive way to do it.

Basically -- what do YOU want to do?

I have done ship tours and a couple times we did taxi tours. We got very lucky on St. Kitts and had a taxi take us on a great tour for only $ 20.00 each.

The advantage of a ship excursion is that if it returns late the ship will not leave with out you. If you book a private tour and they return to port late the ship may leave without you and you will have to find and pay for or your own way to meet up with the ship at the next port.

If your looking or non ship excursions the "Ship Mate" smart phone app has a good selection.

Nassau is not the safest port from what I have read, I would suggest a ship excursion in that port.
