Going on my first cruise on Sep 26, 2015 to the Western Caribbean and trying to figure out what if any excursions are the best to do.
Excursions for First Time Cruiser on the Caribbean-Western
The Excursions depend on what you like to do ???? If your a shopper you will enjoy the Island tour with shopping. If your active you will like the Scuba, snorkeling or swimming with the dolphins. If your a golfer you may want to play a round. If your a drinker, plenty of bars. If your into history the Mayan ruins out of Cozumel.
There is something to do for everyone. Hard to give you a suggestion when I do not know what you like, your demographics or the ports you will be visiting.
Be sure to relax and have a good time
Usually this itinerary includes a couple ports I am familiar enough with to give excursion recommendations:
Grand Cayman Island - a tender port so build this in to your day plan. Stingray City is a must. If that is too much for you, the turtle farm was interesting. If all you want is beach time, you have Seven Mile Beach excursions to pick from.
Cozumel - Decent dolphin encounter center. Palancar reef had some damage a few years back due to hurricane so check on that before you book for diving or snorkeling. Chankanab lagoon is now part of a larger "adventure" park. The lagoon was great but can't speak to what they may have done when turning it into this park.
What are your ports?
It depends on your interests. If you enjoy the beach, consider those shore excursions. If you are going to Cozumel, you can just take the water taxi in and a beach is right there, so is shopping. If this is your first visit to these islands, I suggest the tours that give you an overview of the entire island. Otherwise, marine animal encounters are good to do or more adventuresome tours like horseback riding, snorkeling or caving. Going on an off the road jeep tour is neat or a catamaran party island tour with rum drinks is fun.
Belize, Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Mahogany Bay!
