Depends on how many drinks a day you are planning on consuming. Last week on Splendor, the DGF and averaged about $19.24 for the both of us including the auto gratuities. That was just rum punch and Fun Ship drinks.

I am a light drinker 1 or 3 drinks a day and mostly wine and beer.   For me the drink package is not worth it as I do not drink enough for it to be a savings.  If you can drink 10 to 15 drinks a day then you get a savings with the drink package.  I have noticed that some people that buy the package are determined to get the money worth and they drink more just to get to 10 or more a day to break even.

Norwegian usually gives drink package away for free/you pay tax. You would be surprised how much more you tend to drink when it's free. Great perk

I agree with bluetardis45. Also agree with JustMe that one tends to drink more with the package. I would include myself in both of these categories. I do not drink to excess just to get my money worth, as it is a perk with Norwegian so no cost. But by the same token those drinks look very tasty and when not having to worry about running the tab too high one tends to not think and just grab one of those tasty cold ones.

We found the package not worth the cost for us.  It was part of the cruise package when we sailed on Princess, but if we had purchased it, it would not have been cost effective.  We purchased it on Carnival and found it was just a few drinks shy of being cost effective.... if just the DH were to purchase it, he would meet the minimum of the package cost.  I did drink more soda, special coffee and fun drinks than normal....

If you think you'll drink more than 5 drinks per day, then it is cost effective. The only way you will really know, is to try it once.  Then you'll know if want to do it again in the future.

If you drink more than 5 alcoholic drinks per day, then you will be ahead.

Most drink packages also include bottled water, sodas, fruit juices and other soft drinks, which can easily push you ahead. I usually come out ahead, the wife usually comes out slightly behind.

For me, the best part is the feeling I get knowing the drinks are freeHappy.

Well said.  However, you just think they are free, you already paid for them. And those of us who are a bit behind (like you DW) help pay for them too.  You're welcome. Wink

Prepaid, or included with fare, in Vacationese = FreeBig Smile

I worked it out & for it to be worth my while I would have to drink 8/day & since Hubby would have to purchase it as well he would also need to drink that many per day. I would be WASTED if I drank that many a day, every day. I can't even imagine it!! Big Smile I am a cooler girl myself so fruity drinks won't be something I will consume a lot of & as far as I know coolers aren't available on board. But even if they were, the most we would drink is 2-3 each & that wouldn't be every day, primarily sea days. At 4 drinks a day btwn us it would be a waste of money to buy the drink package. Our kids will be with us as well & while they know we like to have a drink here & there, that would be a reason not to drink more than we prob would if we were alone.

The drink total can climb quickly if one does not pay attention. You know, like you sit down to lunch and have a glass of wine with lunch. Then an early to mid afternoon icy tropical drink at the pool and maybe another late afternoon. Then have a glass or two of wine at dinner and an after dinner port or liqueur and without even doing any drinking in the evening if you are a club person your at the 5 or 6 mark already.
