Door slammers?

I love to book a balcony cabin.  Its great to sit outside and relax certain times of day.  I am aware that the door experiences a vacuum effect and will slam hard.  So when I walk in or out of the balcony I control the door so it does NOT slam.  All I hear is SLAM...SLAM..SLAM..SLAM...SLAM...SLAM all around me.  Do people not know how obnoxious that is.  KNOCK IT OFF PLEASE.

I've actually put a note on neighbors' doors, saying Please stop slamming your door and I'll stop banging on your wall"...

Thanks for the heads-up! I'll do my best to not be a "door slammer". I don't like rude people either and certainly don't want to disturb others.Wink My first cruise so thanks for the tip!

P.S. I NEVER "meet the neighbors" on a cruise .. if they are nice, they can become too nice and stop too frequently .. if they are nasty, I don't want to deal with it... I am very picky about who I meet...

That was my comment on pet peeves! I know sometimes the door can slip out of your hand, but the ones that do it all the time......Angry

It is so refreshing to see people who are first-time cruisers embrace tips as to avoid bothering someone. They are definitely the ones who will have a total blast on their first cruise ...Dbldelites - I'd cruise with you any day ... have a wonderful time!

You are welcome and my post is a very true experience indeed. Especially in port. You will understand once you experience it on your balcony. AND.... you will experience it. Dang I cant wait to cruise again.

I have noticed more "Door Slammers" on ships that have the Sliding doors to the balcony. With the sliding doors it is easier to leave the door open to the balcony keeping the vacuum going so the cabin door to the hall way slams. I dislike the slamming but I do like being able to keep the sliding door open at night to hear the waves as I sleep.

Does in not get too hot. I like the sound of the ship and waves as well but I love a chilly cabin when asleep. (Or passed out Wink)

On Celebrity, when I left the balcony door open just about 1" to get the sound of the waves on the ship it was November in Europe and a transatlantic, so it was nice and cool out at night. I also think the cabin A/C stayed on when the balcony door is open.

You need to place a note on your own door. This way no one will know who is complaining.
