Doi You Actually Use the Newer Amenities on Board Ships

Many of the mega ships now have more unusual amenities. I was wondering if you use such ones as Ice Skating Rink, Flow Rider, Bumper Cars, Rock Climbing Wall or even the Zip Lines?

We have ice skated while on the Oasis and use the Zip Line, too but I doubt that I would use them again.

I did like the Ice Skating Shows on the Voyager and the Mariner of the Seas

Well, Being from Edmonton, I can skate, Rock climb, bumper car and all the rest, about 5 minutes away in the largest Mall in Canada. So that being said, none of those will hold any interest for me when I cruise.

What we don't have here are Sea Breezes, Tropical island locations, Ocean view sunsets and many other amenities that a cruise ship offers. Hence, I would rather be cruising.

Big Smile

Living in Los Angeles I can play bumper cars everyday on the 405 freeway, rock climbing is about 2 miles away from me and so is an Ice rink. I think all of the new amenities are targeting the young families with kids. I have noticed that the upper shelf lines are not doing this, but they target the older more affluent clients.

I do admit to playing Mini Golf on Adventure of the Sea's, it got more challenging the more I drank and the rougher the sea got the closer to England we were. Not a lot of kids as it was a 2 week transatlantic cruise while school was in but the Mini Golf was packed with adults having fun.

I will try the Zip line when I make it aboard an Oasis class ship. Rock climbing I will not bother with. Bumper cars would be fun also. If I travel with the family and kids, then we will look for those things. As long as I am traveling with just adults I'll stick to ships without all the fun stuff for kids.

I guess at my age I prefer a good lecture series, wine tasting and Whiskey tasting.

Thanks everyone for replying. I think most of these amenities are just gimmicks to entice cruisers and go one step farther than other cruise lines. And yes, they are aimed at the younger generation. I love the skating shows.
