Do you think the Cruise Lines "Profile" you?

From the second they take your photo, I think you are profiled by the cruise line in a database and they know a lot about you, your cruise history, your preferences etc. NOT in a bad way but from a customer relations standpoint.  I say that because on a recent cruise a staff member greeted me as "Miss Deborah" a name I never go by - I've been Debbie my entire life.  I am really a Mrs. but when my son and I first started cruising Princess, they linked us as Mr. & Mrs.  By our third cruise, they knew we were not married and "mail" etc was addressed to us individually.  What say you?

Of course they do. They can tailor their marketing to your profile.

Every business "Profiles" you down to the supermarket's reward program.   Each cruise line only knows the cruises I have done with them.   Carnival does not know how often and where I have cruised on RCL.

They would be crazy not to profile you. They have all of this wonderful data on what you purchase on board and everything you purchase through the cruise lines and when. To not mine that data and use it to market to you would mean that someone on the cruise lines side was not doing their job.

No.  I don't think you are profiled by a photograph.  Its for security only.  I am always called 'sir' on a ship unless I give my name.  The steward knows your name because he has the roster for his area.  They have no clue what I buy or drink or eat.

Despite what PC would have you believe, profiling is a good business tool.

I believe they profile well enough. Princess, I have found with other discussions is better at it, but My contact at NCL knows a great deal about me and what I prefer. To the point that he has phoned me at home to discuss the cold weather in Edmonton as opposed to the sunshine in Florida.

Any business that does not pay attention to the trends that come up in the profiles will lose business. Even the local grocery store.

Ya Think ! ?

I think absolutely they do. It doesn't bother me, though, because then they already know some of my preferences. Makes it easier for me, as far as I'm concerned!

Try this at home.

Go to your grocery store. The one where you have a points card or something that you need to give your number or scan a card. (loyalty points) and profile stuff. Next pick some thing you ALWAYS  buy . like milk. or some such item. Now go to the managers office and have him scan your card  and tell you what you bought most of during the year.

They have all that in the great computer. It sees all and knows all and you can't hide.....Big Smile
