Do You have Any Desire to Visit Ports of Call in Africa?

So many people that I know who have traveled to Africa tell me how wonderful it is.  I am still unsure. Have you ever visited Africa?  What was your experience?

If you have not visited, do you have any interest in doing so at some point?

South Africa and Egypt I'd like to visit.

I visited Africa years ago - before I discovered cruising. Glad I went - my Swahili is a bit rusty now (Mimi nina taka kujunfunja Ki-Swahili, djeh?) and my Standard Arabic was just enough to get me in trouble. I'm glad I went (Kenya, parts north and Egypt). Went again to Egypt years later - this time on a cruise (Alexandria - super neat) and Cairo (this time tourists couldn't get access to the Pyramid) - and was disheartened by the Uzi-toting armed guards on every tour bus. I wouldn't go today. Maybe some future time when things settle down. Maybe not.

No not really.

I have the desire. The only thing holding me back is time and moneySad

Not at the top of my bucket list.

It's not on my bucket list.

Cape Town is one of my favorite ports. Did an almost three month circumnavigation of Africa in 2008. Four years prior to that we did most of East Africa, some India and Indonesia for one month, at the end we got off in Cape Town and then took a one week Safari into parts of South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe. We really enjoyed every bit of those voyages and journeys. However, with the exception of Cape Town, I really don't need a repeat.  Also, Egypt and Tunisia we have been at multiple times and really enjoyed them, particularly Egypt.  Unfortunately, every since, Iraq, and then Arab Spring, those points will probably never be available again for visitation, at least in my life time.

Not on my list ... don't really have a desire to go to many foreign countries right now ...

We were supposed to visit Egypt on a cruise last year but the port of call was cancelled.  Instead we went to Jordan to see Petra.

Yeah, my Swahili is pretty rusty, too.  We were invited to a BBQ party at a crew member's home if we go on a cruise that stops at his city.  I never had any desire before to visit Africa but we may consider it.  We really bonded with the family on a recent cruise.
