Do you have a Trip Insurance you would recommend?

Hi everyone, not trying to start a fight, but wanted to ask you what insurance do you go with? I am looking at the insuremytrip website, just trying to shift through all the verbage and would like your input, going to cruise out of MIA 5/17 with 5 ppl, 4 day cruise, going to Jamaica,  Cayman's and Cozumel.

Thanks in advance!

I use the Insurance offered by the cruiseline...

I never use cruise line insurance as they "expect" you to buy it. The best way is to go to and enter details. They are a clearing house of ALL the major insurers. And what's great is that if you call them they will help you choose best policy for what you need. If you have an existing condition you must buy insurance within 14 days of deposit. But you really only need to buy the non-cabncellable portion - often your $100-$400 deposit then. When final paymentt is due then yiu just increase it.

We've purchased travel insurance from our auto club - our equivalent to AAA and had reasonable rates for all the coverage we want.

We also purchase through our auto and home insurer (USAA). We have used "Travel Guard" in the past but figured we are happy with USAA why go elsewhere? We did need to file a claim once and the paper work was frustrating and time consuming, but it probably should be to avoid fraud. They did pay off as promised.

Make sure you ask if pre existing conditions, such as complications from MS are covered.

Thank you everyone! Danyl found one and we were going to get it the other night and she came down with the nasty crud. We are looking at the insuremytrip page, going through all the different ones.

Going to make a decision this week

Bennett, MS? Multiple Scleroses? that's a great question, but just curious about why you brought it up? Sorry if I am being dense this morning

Remember if any questions CALL Insure My Trip. They are great (and in US!). Also to get Pre-existing Condition covered you need to cover the CURRENT non-cancelable portion. (No reason to buy all until final payment date). And you have 15 days to cancel insurabce if you change your mind. That's why I LOVE IMT

i have used the cruise lines insurance. Good info on thread will have to look into some of this.

I'm going to check out a couple of the sites mentioned to see if they offer coverage for Canadians. There's always so much great info to share on a cruise forum.
