Cruising with Family - Luggage?

My husband hates cruising and traveling in general (traveled way too much in his corporate days), so I have begun cruising with my 33 year old son.  He is a professional photographer and we often extend our stay in ports for photo ops. The only thing we argue about is LUGGAGE.  Too much, not enough, chaos at the airport and ports ...

When you travel with family, do you pack together, each take your own luggage?

PS - We haul a tone of photographic equipment which adds to the problem....

We usually each take our own. My husband and I always pack in one suitcase, except this year when we travel we will have our 3 mo. old daughter's stuff to worry about as well.

When we cruise we pack by cabin. We usually drive to ports (East Coast) so we just fit whatever we can in the vehicles and sort it out when we get there.

We follow the K.I.S.S. principle. Now we travel with 1 carry-on and 1 check bag each. we mix up the contents of the checked bag so that we each have something in the bag in case one gets lost. Carry-ons contains meds toiletries etc.

Depends on the length. Short trips my wife and I share but on longer trips we each take a checked bag and we share a single carry on.

As an adult man, I doubt your son would want to pack his clothes in with yours. LOL

My advice is to pack whatever you want for yourself, and let him do the same. As a professional photographer, he is likely aware of how much he needs to take for clothes and equipment so he can be responsible for his own things, and not need to depend on you. That's what my parents did when my dad travelled for business - he too was a professional photographer.

Good point, glad I didn't suggest it to him lol ...It just seems my suitcase is packed full and his is minimal.

DH and I share a suitcase, DD has her own suitcase, and we each have our own carry-on.

I pack solo as I live alone so not near family or friends to share a bag. I'd still rather pack my own bag. I can do a one week cruise with a carry on bag and my back pack.

Camera equipment can be a pain, but worth it.. I know going cross country was a pain. I'm so protective and need to carry it on half the time because its expensive.

There was the one time that my BF laid out clothes on the bed and I wanted to sleep before we flew out the next day... Slick man... I had to pack his bag if I wanted to sleep.....I was not amused.
