Cruising with Benefits

I get the priority check in concept, but the internet and laundry?  Shoe polishing? I rarely use the internet when I am cruising ... I do that enough at home and the thought of public laundry facilities has always grossed me out ... I'd rather see benefits for better discounts and $ Onboard credits ... how 'bout you?

I thought this might be a follow up thread to cruising without your mate and cruising with friends Big Smile

If I ever get around to a longer cruise, then I can see the laundry benefits, as well as the shoe shine, being a good thing to have.

Internet I don't really care for, but if I had it for free it might be nice to check all the spam.

I could really use discounted drinks packages though.

Mrs Kravitz, right???

It depends on the cruise line as to the benefits. I like the Internet minutes benefit because I work as an independent consultant. While I prepare my clients for my being away, I never want to be completely disconnected in the event that something comes up. I download emails every day just in case.  I also like the laundry benefit. When we cruise for a month straight, I do not pack a month's worth of clothes.

Perhaps a better option is to have concierge benefits where people pick their desired benefit within a given parameter according to achievement level?

I have used the laundry a few times.   when I do a 5 to 6 week trip of land and sea it is nicer to have laundry done on the ship then to spend a day in a launderette.  Even on a shorter trip is is nice to come home with clean laundry then to have to go home and do laundry.   I have also used the free pressing of my tux,   Have had the ship alter slacks for the kid on one trip and we cannot forget the free cocktail party every night before dinner Big Smile

We always pay for internet access, so any free minutes are a huge benefit!  We’ve also used free laundry many times and shoe shine once or twice.  We often forget to use free photo and casino match-play benefits though, so if anyone ever wants to trade…Wink

Royal Caribbean does give booking discounts for past passengers.  Celebrity and Royal Caribbean will give free drinks to past passengers for a few hours each day.  Princess will let you empty the mini-bar in your room once if you’ve cruised enough (trading again, who wants my gin?).  Carnival gives some really nice gifts that change regularly.

Every cruise line is a little different but that’s part of the appeal, right?Happy
