Cruising through Customs ...Ever have issues?

I was disembarking one cruise when I had severe breathing issues halfway down the ramp. All I needed was my inhaler, but they insisted on putting me in a wheelchair, filling out reams of paperwork and then wheeling me through customs.  Customs then spent a great deal of time searching my carry-on bag, etc.  Otherwise, I have normally breezed right through ...

Just the last time... We did express debark, and it was a little bit of a wait, and I was VERY Hungover (probably still a little drunk...). I felt like I was going to yack... too hot, too many people... Customs goes do I have anything to declare... I had to bite my tongue from being a wise butt and telling him "I declare I'm hungover"

I declare I don't want to get off the ship!  Never an issue at customs, maybe because they see my Canadian passport and realize that I will get raked over the coals when I reach my home country.  Canadian customs are real tight arses when it comes to booze!  Boooo!

I have never had an issue at customs. So long as you declare truthfully they usually leave you alone.

Never had an issue getting off a ship.   When we went on the Glory a friend had suitcase that barley made it through the x-ray to get on the ship,  when they finely had to push it through he said "I can't believe I got it through"  that got security on him in an instant to explain himself.  Some people just over pack for a one week trip.

Whiners and wheelchairs or being rude or feigning sick are red flags.  I wont explain how I know.

LOL I was positive they thought I was "faking" my breathing problem.

A smuggler has no profile.  Young, old, fat, tall, thin, black or white healthy or sick.  No profile...

Truth! Its the all mighty dollar!

We never had a real problem getting off a ship & going through customs.  Early on in the 80s though we waited to get off a ship until the last minute because our flight home was late in the evening.  As we disembarked, customs went through my husband's wallet, emptying out his money, his photos and his credit cards.  Then they went through his hand luggage, thoroughly.  They found nothing and said it was just a pot check.

Surprising they were that thorough for late disembarkers.
