Cruising is expensive

I was just wondering what others expenses are.   My up coming 8 day cruise costs are $2770 for the cruise and gratuities.  $300 for my 3 day hotel fee.  $75 for fuel in my car to drive from NC to Fly.  $225 for putting Weezie the cats hotel.  $400 in prepaid cruise cash and $400 pocket cash plus insurance of $160.  That's $3930.  Yes I book a balcony.  No other way for me.  I just can't figure away to cut the cost down.   I'm solo this trip and it is what it is.  So what's your costs?  Respectfully. Excuse any typos. I hate auto correct... NC to Fla.

It may be a bit costly, but if you try to do the same things on land as you get on a cruise, it would be a lot more. Besides, there aren't those beautiful women you like to see, in very many other places. Wink

Pinkie to the rescue again... Thanks for the justification. Happy

Need to find a gal with a good paying job that also enjoys cruising.

Seriously as a single to get expenses down I'm going to be doing excursions more often on my own instead of the more expensive cruise line ones. Also, unfortunately, I'll be considering interior rooms more often or window rooms more often. With the other financial goals I have, can't justify $4000+ for a cruise.

Our cruises in March will cost us about $6200 US for our flights, porthole room on both the 6 day and 4 day cruises, gratuities, meals on land, misc transportation, dog sitter and gifts for our grandkids. We booked flights using our "air miles" plus a little extra, booked the cruises while on our last cruise so we have enough OBC to use for the 10 days, and booking close to a year in advance using the AAA or Senior rate at Choice hotels was also a savings. For us, a land vacation is really no different in price from a cruise vacation.

Oops! That was $6200 CDN not US. It's $4900 US.

JC.. Agreed. I've never done an excursion. I do my own thing and perhaps rent a scooter for a few bucks. I rented one in Cozumel for 25 bucks for the day. I'll see if I can do that in Aruba. I don't want to be contolled. I like to figure it out ony own...

I hate to tell you this, but you forgot the three days of meals while you are driving.

You might want to see if Jet Blue or one of the other inexpensive flights are available to you.

I had the same expenses last time going from TX to FL for driving. I found I could drive to Austin, Park for 15 days, fly to FLL, rent a car for 4 days, and then fly back to Austin cheaper than I could drive to FLL. (Jet Blue was only $300 round trip for both of us, parking at $10 per day)

Here are some of the cruises I have been looking at and some of the charges included. We are also from NC and drive rather than fly. As someone else said, you have to figure in the cost of the food that you will not be buying while on the cruise, that does add up. the figures below are based on dual occupancy for a 5 day cruise. I did not figure in the excursion prices or anything that we might buy while there. Hope you have a great cruise!

ok it said it detected bad words in my post when I was trying to repost the chart scanning for bad words in text and will repost the table.
