Cruise Ship Cook Books

Remember when cruise lines hung their culinary kudos around the name of a famous chef, and proudly pushed cook books with those signature creations at the end of the cruise? Somewhere hidden in my kitchen is the fabulous cookbook from my earlier Celebrity cruises (Chef Michel?), and in my hands as I keyboard this out – is “COURSES,  A Culinary Journal” from Princess – hard backed, coffee table sized, spectacularly illustrated – and step-by-step recipes. I can’t remember the last time I saw cookbooks in the gift shops – maybe I’m just not paying enough attention…

Haven't seen them on the ships but you can buy them for $2.00 on Amazon ... probably why they no longer sell them ...

Gee - $2? I seem to remember paying a liiiiiitle bit more...

I'm sure you did! I used to collect cookbooks and paid dearly for them but I guess everybody goes online nowadays for recipes therefore the reduced price ..

I also don't buy books anymore when traveling due to the added weight to my luggage Sad

I get it - our next two trips? Big purse and a "man satchel." That's it for luggage.

I have Carnival, Princess and Holland cookbooks. I have probably 60 recipes from Hollands Culinary center where they have cooking demos. I know Princess and Holland still sell the books. You almost have to ask for them on princess.

Cool. I don't remember them being conspicuously displayed or actively marketed last few trips. I'll check it out next cruise (be interesting to see what's in the new ones). Yummy

On Princess I asked the my waiter in the MDR and had him sign it. On Holland they are for sale at the Coffee bar. I don't remember NCL but i think they had them.

We got a nice one from Princess as part of our "Chef's Table" package; "Additionally, each couple at the Chef's Table will receive a personalized, autographed copy of Princess' best-selling cookbook, Courses, A Culinary Journey, which has sold more than 100,000 copies worldwide and is available on Passengers will also enjoy a complimentary photo taken at the private table with the chef."

I'd love to see a cookbook from Norwegian Breakaway. The recipe would start, "To a container of salt add..."

I have recently seen cookbooks in the gift shops on cruises but I have never bought one.
