Cruise Photography ... Do you Buy It?

From the embarkation photo to dinner shots to port photos ... do you buy the Cruise Line photo packages?  We usually don't but the Alaskan Cruise shots were too good to pass up ...

It depends on  the quality of the photos. On one cruise the pictures were terrible and we didn't buy any, but we have bought just one or two at the most on other cruises. We pose for very few and never have them taken at dinner when the roaming photographers interrupt conversations and meals.

We spent a great deal on pictures for our first cruise. Since then we have been selective about what we want. I found you can deal with the team on what's in the package and on the cd you get..

We rarely purchase these photos.  Recently, though, we had so much on board credit that we did purchase a package.  I wish that the photos came in a 5X7 size.  The 8X10 size is too big too display.

If you get the CD of the pictures, You can download them to your computer. Monique does this and uses our photo printer to come up with top quality photos, in 5x7 as well.

I have never bought any pictures.  If I was dating a nice woman and we were on a cruise I would for her if she wanted a nice photo.  As far as the pirate that puts a plastic knife under your throat at dinner and says Arrg Me Matey pose for the camera.  I tell him to beat it or he will have mashed potato all over himself.  Kidding.. But thats what I am thinking though.

I always purchase the embarkation photo to commemorate the cruise.  I don't usually buy any other photos unless it's something I just LOVE.

We buy a formal picture about every two years. I just don't get the dining room photos.

It's hard to convince my BF to take a photo. I know last time he wanted to get one or two, but we never followed through. We might try again, but who knows.

I'll usually buy one if the formal photos, but don't really care for the others.

We do not buy scenic photos because I enjoy taking lots of pictures myself.  When we were on the Panama Canal cruise, we purchased one of the ship photos of us waving from our balcony. We also had a photographer snapping pics at our vow renewal as we selected a couple from that.
