Cruise Birthday Memory

Our first cruise was aboard Carnival’s Jubilee.  A couple of days in, the ship was diverted so a woman who had gone into premature labor could be sent to a hospital.  Near the end of the cruise an announcement was made that mom and new-born daughter were both doing fine and that the baby had been given Jubilee as a middle name.

Today is that baby’s twenty-first birthday.  Happy Birthday Jubilee, wherever you are.  Hope you’re having your first legal drink on a cruise ship!

That is totally cool! Happy Birthday!

Thanks for sharing that nice story.  I was doing an internet search trying to find more details but haven’t come up with anything.  Do you have any more info?  Wouldn’t it be cool if that family is still doing cruises?

What a fun story.  I'll add my wish for the happiest of birthday's to Jubilee!

What a great memory for everyone on that cruise. If you or your family are reading this, Happy Birthday Jubilee!

Does anyone know a 21 yr old young woman with Jubilee as a middle name?

Wow, that's a story to remember! Happy Birthday to her.

I think this was before everything in life was recorded on the internet and there wasn’t a helicopter involved so it probably wasn’t newsworthy.  The ship departed LA on 9/22/1996.  The way we remember it:  There were two days at sea before Mazatlán.  On 9/24 the ship backtracked to Cabo San Lucas to disembark the couple via tender.  It couldn’t have been too out of the way because we weren’t late getting to Mazatlán.  Depending on how long the mother was in labor, it’s possible the baby was not born on 9/24.

Don’t you go ruining our memory with facts now! AngryWink

There is something to be said for that definitely.  I'll just leave it be.  Once again thanks very much for sharing the story.

Good thing her parents took a cruise, instead of AMTRAK

What a cool story!

Cool story and such a nice memory to have.
