Coast Guard Helicopter Debarkation

Ever been on a ship where someone had to be taken off by night?

Truly impressive.

The night this happened on a Princess Cruise, they evacuated the top 3 floors of the ship in the event the helicopter were to hit the deck ... I'm stunned that people were allowed out there ... It is amazing how great they are however ...

We have been on two cruises when there has been a rescue at sea. The first was on a NCL cruise, at night, raining in 20 foot seas. Truly impressive. The second was on Holland on the way back from Tahiti. We were so far out the Coast Gaurd could not reach us. The Air Force sent the Helicopter with a refueling plane (C130) I think.

It was awesome watching them work to take care of someone. The plane circled us for over 20 minutes before the Helicopter showed up.

We were on the Liberty when a guest had to be taken off by helicopter. It was amazing to watch, and everyone standing in awe, cheered and clapped as the chopper was leaving. The captain and crew were great at keeping us informed of when it was happening, (no details about the person's health of course) and made sure the guests were not in the way.
