Cigar bars and Cruises

Anyone else remember when there was a cigar bar on the ships?  With the dry docks and upgrades, I've seen the older ships ditch the cigar bars... Were they not fruitful enough? Fire hazard? Does anyone miss them?

I think some ships still have them but you’re right, a lot of them have been transformed into other things now.  I would guess the space is more useful or profitable as something else.  I’ve seen some ships still do cigars at certain times outside by the bar on the back deck as an alternative.

Some lines still have them on the Dawn there was one as well as on Princess. We will see on the next cruise. I'm not worried about it cause I quit smoking a year ago.

The Norwegian ships I have been on all have them including the newly refitted ones such as the Dawn.

Interestingly though it does not look like the Breakaway has one. So might be a trend away from them.

Another tradition being tossed to the curb.

Being a nonsmoker I do not miss them.  I think they just were not a profit center for the ships.   You know if they made big $$ then would be on every ship.  Celebrity has the cigar smoking area on part of the lawn club of the Equinox.   I do not recall a cigar room on any of the Carnival ships I have been on.

Deck 8

smells great inside

and with Malting's right next to it,  I enjoyed a lovely bourbon with my cigar

I personally don't smoke, but the smell of a cigar can be nice sometimes... Maybe a hookah bar??

Princess still had cigar bars on our last voyages.  We are non-smokers so could care less about being inside of them. Those we see who do go in seem to have a nice time though.  There are times they do not seem to be a good use of space as they appear to be empty a lot of the time.
